16 May 2019 -- Sea Day

We spent another nice rolling day at sea with gentle "new waves", as our Captain calls them.  Skies were clear and sunny, but the open deck was very windy.

We celebrated Norwegian Constitution Day on board with smoked salmon and norwegian hot dogs.  The sauce on the hot dogs (at least a foot long PLUS!) was sour cream with dill, cucumber, and shrimp.  Doesn't sound American, does it??  Potato salad, pickles, and pickled onions were served on the side for the hot dogs.  The pickled onions were also toppings for the hot dog! Smoked salmon was served with a thin mustard sauce.

We attended 2 port talks today as we have a very long day tomorrow in Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany.  The weather is expected to be ideal with temps approaching 70 deg. and sunny skies.  The other talk was on Copenhagen which is our Saturday stop, where we will meet our 1987 Swedish exchange student and his family, wife and 2 boys.  We are really looking forward to this visit as we've not seen Jonas since the 1990s.

This evening we had drinks with friends that we met on board that loaned us an adapter for our camera digital card, that made this blog possible.  Without the adapter we wouldn't have been able to download the photos.  Many thanks to Mary Lou and Dan for lending it to us!!

Tonight we were treated to a BBQ dinner prepared by the chefs on the outdoor deck!  What a treat!!!  BBQ ribs, steak, sausages, etc., with all the trimmings.  Viking sure knows how to spoil people!!

Tonight we go to the movies to see "Bohemian Rhapsody" 😅, complete with popcorn and comfy seating!

  1. It all sounds perfect, John! I want one of those hot dogs! You'll have to report back on what you think of Bohemian Rhapsody. That was very nice that your new friends loaned you the adapter!
